Blues & Oilers: Keep an eye on the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues on the trade market, as both teams have been linked to making a blockbuster move together.

Multiple reports have surfaced the trade would involve one of the Oilers best prospects, heading to the Blues & Oilers with goaltender Stuart Skinner, in exchange for Blues’ veteran goaltender Jordan Binnington. It’s become obvious to the Blues & Oilers brass that their goaltending situation, as it’s currently constructed, is not going to get the job done. Binnington reportedly remains their top trade target after they swung and missed on John Gibson this past summer.

Nick Kypreos: The strongest speculation ties Jordan Binnington to Edmonton; the Oilers are also seeing if they can get a defenceman out of St. Louis at the same time. That potential deal would most likely be built around Stuart Skinner going back to St. Louis.

The Blues have defenceman Justin Faulk who has also been listed on several trade boards, so there’s certainly going to be some talks surrounding the right-handed mobile defenceman. However, the Oilers have limited cap space and assets to trade, so GM Stan Bowman will have to be very creative if he’s going to pull off the mini miracle.

This isn’t the first time Binnington has been linked to the Oilers, so keep an eye on these two teams, as talks have advanced past the preliminary stages. Binnington is signed through next season at $6 million AAV, and owns a 16-team no-trade clause:
