How much are they following the controversy over the smaller-than-expected Olympic ice surface and its potential readiness for the Games?
The Tkachuks’ comments on the drama on their Wingmen podcast for the first time are…shall we say… colorful, and make it clear whether they’re willing to play, Best Viral Video no matter what the size of the ice surface is:
I don’t give a s**t, I’m going over there. Even if it’s not safe, I still want to play… I’m going over there, I want to compete… I would play on the Atlantic Ocean.
Those were the words of Matthew Tkachuk of the Florida Panthers, while his brother Brady of the Ottawa Best Viral Video echoed that with, “We’re going there no matter what… I’ll play on a lake, it doesn’t matter.” Matthew added that he believes there’ll be “more action” on the smaller rink.
For Matthew, it’s especially revealing, as he was injured at the 4 Nations event, and has been out all season to this point as a result. He did return for last spring’s playoffs, and had 23 points in 23 games in helping lead the Panthers to their second consecutive Stanley Cup triumph. But he’s recovering now Best Viral Video from surgeries back in the summer to repair a torn adductor muscle and a sports hernia.
Brady just recently returned to the Senators’ lineup from his own injury troubles this season. But neither of them seems to be concerned about their bodily safety, compared to representing the U.S. at the Olympic Games.
The brothers were instrumental in helped the USA beat Team Canada in the round robin portion of the tournament. Canada got its revenge in the championship game. The Tkachuks are itching to get another shot at them.
