Kraken Suffer

Kraken Suffer: Schwartz limped off the ice to the bench and headed straight down the tunnel, not to return.

The Kraken are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the Pacific Division with 28 points. But it’s almost exclusively thanks to their goal prevention, as they sit second in the NHL in goals against per game, and fifth in save percentage by their goalies.

Kraken offense takes another hit as Schwartz goes down injury

The offense? It’s one of the worst in hockey, sitting at 29th in the league with just 2.57 goals per game. To lose their leading scorer in Schwartz, who has eight goals and 15 points in 23 games, is a tough blow.

The loss will be mitigated, however, to a large extent, as last year’s top scorer, Jared McCann, just returned to the lineup in the same contest, after missing 17 games due to injury. Kraken Suffer Having the team’s top all-time leading scorer back should help ease the pain of losing Schwartz. McCann has three goals and five points in the six games he has played this season.

As for Schwartz, he only missed a single game last season in accruing 26 goals and 49 points. He had missed 20 games the season prior, and two years before that, in the Kraken’s inaugural season, Schwartz was only able to play in 37 games due to injury.

Now, it’s hoped he can return before the Olympic break. Kraken Suffer The team’s estimation of “approximately” six weeks would have him back by mid-January.
