8 Winning Outcomes the Canucks Can Expect After Sherwood’s Powerful Locker-Room Message

Winning Outcomes

Winning Outcomes: It was another disastrous performance by the Vancouver Canucks, in a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. The team is seemingly on the verge of selling some assets, starting with pending unrestricted free agent Kiefer Sherwood. But the gritty, hard-nosed forward is letting his current teammates have it before his impending exit.

It’s the NHL… F—–g bring it every night. To not be ready or just get out-willed in certain areas, it’s unacceptable. It’s frustrating and, yeah, just unacceptable. We need to scrap and claw for every game right now, and we’ve got to take more pride in the little things: winning our battles, defending our net-front. The stuff in front (of our goalies) is unacceptable. They’re the backbone of our team and we’re just giving up way too many Grade-As (scoring chances). We’ve got to be desperate from the get-go.

The Canucks have now lost six straight, and eight of their last nine games, scoring a total of 20 goals in the process, to fall to dead last in the NHL with 37 points. They’re also second-last in the league in goals against.

Sherwood continues to do his part to try to keep things together for the team, handing out 30 hits in the last five games, with three points.

Although the Canucks have made a recent extension offer to Sherwood, it seems like it’s only a matter of time—some say it could be imminent—that Sherwood will be heading to a new situation.

To top it all off for Vancouver, goaltender Thatcher Demko left Saturday night’s game with yet another injury—this one “lower body”. It’s the sixth time in two years that the team’s No. 1 goalie and the 2024 Vezina Trophy runner-up has gone down to injury.
